Hi!
My name is Kiren and I'm the founder of Thread and Tula!
I returned to the UK after living in Bali, Indonesia for almost two years. I always wanted practical and sturdy travel bags when I had my weekend getaways but nothing quite hit the mark...
Thread and Tula's story started at my kitchen table with my Mum. We stumbled upon the work of block printing in India. After lots of research and with an upcoming family trip - we were interested in learning more about how this craftsmanship could work in balance with my idea of creating practical and sustainable travel bags for years to come!
About Thread and Tula
Growing up I was surrounded by Indian fabrics, colours, and handcrafted textiles, and I developed a deep appreciation for the stories woven into every pattern and stitch.
I flew out to India in 2026 where I connected with manufacturers and had samples sent to me. From there, I fell in love with the craft and the incredible accessories that could be brought to life.
By bringing these influences together, Thread and Tula was born, a brand that honours heritage while creating products designed for modern life.
The question everyone has been asking... what does Thread and Tula mean? The word Thread for us represents heritage, connection, craft, and the human touch behind every design. Tula means balance, a reflection of our belief that tradition and modern living can exist together in harmony.
At Thread and Tula, we believe the things we carry every day should be both beautiful and meaningful.
